AIT AND MICROSOFT ORGANIZED "SECURITY CONFERENCE"
AIT (Athens Information Technology) and Microsoft jointly organized last Friday, a 鈥淪ecurity Conference鈥 which took place at the premises of AIT located in Athens, Greece.
Professor C. Halkias, AIT Dean and Mr. P. Theodossopoulos, Director Developer & Platform Group of Microsoft Hellas welcomed the large number of participants who attended the conference. Following, Mr. D. Eckert, Microsoft Chief Security Advisor for Europe, Middle East and Africa mentioned the increasing challenge of cyber crime and all the technological and societal factors that constitute security difficulties.
Moreover, Professor K. Voudouris ENISA Board Member (European Network and Information Security Agency) focused his speech on the European Union which has already taken firm steps to fight harmful and illegal content on the internet, protect intellectual property and personal data, promote electronic commerce, protect electronic signatures to enhance the security of transactions, and to improve the security of information infrastructures. He underlined that the challenge for ENISA is to deliver high EU-wide level of security in electronic communications, and to further contribute to the establishment of a 鈥渃ulture of security鈥, necessary for the single market to deliver its full benefits to European citizens, consumers, enterprises and public sector bodies. This culture should combine the rapid and responsible take-up of technical innovation with good security practices.
